This list contains NPCs that are named after specific people or known groups in the World of Warcraft community, as well as in game story references. Reason they were added, where and how.
1. Pyraeus Dawning and Witny Dawning are the new vendors of the Loyal Apothecary that are located at the East Zeppelin Tower that is located East of Orgrimmar City. Witny Dawning is a Poison Supplies vendor, while Pyraeus Dawning is a Reagent Supplies vendor. Witny Dawning is named after the character of the same name, "Witny", who played a Holy Paladin and aided in constructing Spirit Rest Lake. She also provided aid in constructing the second floor of the Wyvern's Tail Inn. Both of these locations were made in Orgrimmar and edited by her. Pyraeus Dawning is named after the character of the same name, "Pyraeus", who is the Grand Mapper and one of the Lead Concept Designer of the Saphira Industries team. Pyraeus called Witny her good "poison" that he loves and is addicted to. Hence, the reason why Witny became the "Poison Supplies" vendor.
2. Lady Ophilia Trias is a cheese vendor located at the West Zeppelin Tower that is located West of Orgrimmar City. Her last name and shop name, Trias' Lovely Cheese" are a clear reference and rival to Stormwind's "Trias' Cheese" shop that contains the family of humans called "Trias". Lady Ophilia Trias represents the dark and sinister version of the family that didn't make it through the Third War and were risen as one of the Forsaken. She was added to balance out the vendors between the Alliance and the Horde. Within the tower is also "Watcher Rawtar" that is the "Mistress of Cooking Recipes". She is a direct rival to the "Master of Cooking Recipes" in Stormwind City who sold many Cooking Recipes the Horde couldn't get ever. Watcher Rawtar was added to serve the same kind of rivalry to him to clear the unbalance. Her name and model are clearly made from "Blood Guard Rawtar" who was a "Lean Wolf Steak Collector" during the Ahn'Qiraj War Event. She is now re-added and seems to have gotten a new job.
3. Dugar was an orc quest end-er that didn't make it in the final release of the Burning Crusade and hence never made it out of BETA. He is now a peon once more and under the service of Kaja at her Gun Shop.
4. Most of the new areas in Orgrimmar are named after the Orcish Clans that never made it into World of Warcraft and were "lazily" never included in Warlods of Draenor that greatly disappointed some of the fan base. Their clan members were added in the game and many locations were named after them within the game. Most of the clan's named areas and their members can be found at the "Redwalker's Resort, Bladewind Training Grounds, Thunderlord Armory, Lightning Blade Breeders, and the Valley of Spirits."
5. Zevry, the transmogrification NPC, is a clear reference after the character of the same name who was an undead priest and helped in building of Orgrimmar City's various locations. He designed the concept of the new PvP items, gave various ideas for the server that should be included, very good logical explanation of reasons why, what, and how would be unbalanced, and has played many expansions. He also glitch tested many various locations and found various bugs for the staff to fix. He is a heavy PvP addict (but did a good amount of PvE too) and that is why he was hand chosen to be located north of the PvP Hall at Zankaja's Hovel. His ideas and help will always be remembered.
6. The Magnaron Forge is named after the Ogre's ancestors who only were mentioned first time in Warlods of Draenor lore (The most disappointing expansion. Yea, I said it). There is a high population of trolls within the Valley of Spirits, Spirit's Rest, Hunter's Hall, and the Redwalker's Resort. They highly populate the area to portray the troll's loss of the Echo Isles and the Orcs giving them sanctuary.
7. Maltrake Axerion is named after two characters. It is named after "Maltrake, Servant of Rommath", who appeared in the Burning Crusade BETA that teleported players to Silvermoon City, and "Axerion" that is the Grand Mapper and one of the Lead Concept Designers of the Saphira Industries team that helped in constructing Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Without Axerion, most of the work in game would of been really impossible and heavy credit is due.
8. The new Wyvern Tail Inn located at Valley of Wisdom is named after the same Inn of the same name that was located in the Valley of Honor in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. These two Inns didn't have the same locations and the current one contains also a mixture of races. Something it shares with the Cataclysm version. The Mighty Pen sign that is placed at the Inscription Profession trainer in the Drag and the Broken Tusk sign that is placed in the Valley of Strength's main Inn are both named after the original Blizzard's naming off these two areas. Signs for each of them were added in game.
9. A few of the new NPCs in the Capital Cities are from the Cataclysm Launch Event, such as the Doomsayers and other various named Cultists. Here, they spread rumors and words of doom. In Stormwind City, they can be seen conversing with Lady Katrana Prestor, who is Onyxia in human form, and who "somehow" (Damn it, Blizzard) made a return in Wrath of the Lich King. Both the new and old cultists had connection to Black Dragonflight sect.
10. The new shops called "The Curiosity Shop" are a reference to the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask shop of the same name that sold and bought stolen goods from the players. Here, it sells a large variety of multiple supplies located for various good of currency and a Soul-Trader Beacon pet that is "Consortium" vendor. Both shops seem "highly suspicious" in their own way and sell "curious items". Whether you think these items that are sold are stolen or not is up to you. Nicky Kellog is named after "Nikki Kellogg" who tested few of the zones so far in game. Although lazy to construct, she was one of the founders of our server and wasn't forgotten for all she had done. She sells a lot of PvP oriented items that further hints of her PvP addiction and the love she had for it.
11. A few additional quest givers were added to the main capital cities, while some were added to the second well known such as Thunder Bluff or Ironforge. These quest givers were featured in the Love is in the Air Festival before Wrath of the Lich King and all of them were in love with one woman. In the end of each quest, you will find out who truly the woman likes and for what reason. The others, however, are not so lucky. These quests can be done at anytime and could help the low level populace of players.
12. Aron Horntardin, the Reagent Supplies vendor, and Sunwalker Aaron, the Argent Crusade Provisioner, are both named after "Aaron" who was the guild leader of Chaos Legacy and a kind member who was a helping hand to all. His kind actions and words brought inspiration. In Cataclysm, he played a tauren paladin and Sunwalker Aaron looks exactly like a tauren paladin. Although not existing on the Balance Realm, a close examination of the text he says reveals he's a dragon in disguise. Aron Horntardin is a reference to his tauren paladin's name, "Horntardin", and the fact that he is located within the Wyvern's Tail Inn is a reference of his hang out point being within a troll hut inn area in Cataclysm. The Inn he is in shares both trollish and orcish culture unlike the original one, but he was added here to keep the nostalgic feeling of the WoW content. The fact that he is a Reagent Supplies Vendor is a reference to all his kindness he always provided to his friends and even strangers.
13. Yash'Torc, the Riding Trainer for Flying, that is located at the Lightning Blade Breeders within the Valley of Spirits of Orgrimmar City is named after "Yashtag" who was one of the first testers ever to connect and try out the realm. Mostly busy with his university work and studies. Here, he provides his own teachings.
14. Many new NPCs of both Alliance and Horde are actually re-used NPCs scrapped by Blizzard during their Vanilla Alpha design of the game, while many others are former NPCs that were removed from the game that were re-added to be used again.
15. The new auctioneer, Lertion, and banker, Dreknaros, are both named after the hunter, Lertion, and Dreknaros, the Death Knight, of the same name who played World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Dreknaros' main character was a Death Knight and he is a strong supporter of the server. Death Knight zones were his favorite and as a honor he was added into Acherus: The Ebon Hold. Lertion does not speak with a Death Knight voice in the game that references him simply being used for "login" purposes to auction and receive items from mail by Pyraeus. Both can be found on the new floor of Acherus that can be reached with an elevator.
16. The Death Knights located at the edited Death's Breach and Acherus: The Ebon Hold are all seen later in Northrend as they make their final push against the Lich King, similar to Highlord Darion Mograine. All the NPCs there represent where they were in the past before they went into Northrend. Quartermaster Ozorg appeared briefly during Wrath of the Lich King Beta, but was later removed when Wrath of the Lich King went live. When Transmogrification was introduced, he was re-added with all the gear Death knights had available while leveling up in their starting zone in Cataclysm. Here, he is re-added in Death's Breach and serves as the Ebon Blade Provisioner. Although Dread Commander Thalanor and Master Siege-Smith Corvus handle his Cataclysm businesses. Quartermaster Ozorg has actually become something of a "quartermaster" now and unlike his Cataclysm counterpart, he is situated at Death's Breach that is located underneath Acherus: The Ebon Hold.
17. Timothy Musyck is located at the Timothy's Crafted Goods Shop in the Canals of the Dwarven District. His name is a clear reference to one of the Lead Designers of the server, Timothy Musick, who was also the founder of the server. Timothy sells all sorts of relics that portrays his never ending energy to make things.
18. Angelista's Boutique is located within Stormwind City's Cathedral Square as a new opened shop. Much like the same shop of the same name within Stratholme's past Festival Lane. The past shop and the current one both have a shop keeper who is not Angelista herself. She is strangely missing from both timelines, but her shop endures.
19. Many of Stormwind's new signs are named after the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm signs, while others are named after Dwarven Clans within the Dwarven District. The Gnomeregan Bunkhouse is made to symbolize how the Gnomes lost their homes to the Troggs and to the disease that inflicted Gnomeregan City. Many new signs in Stormwind City weren't even featured in Cataclysm.
20. Stormwind Keep's statues memorial room has been missing many signs. Many of these exact same looking statues already existed in the Valley of Heroes. Signs from there were taken and re-added into the memorial room, while others were taken from other locations in the world in order to fill up the memorial room.
21. Stormwind Keep's War Room is based on the concept design of the one in Cataclysm, but with a custom feeling featured within it. In the Guard's Section of the Keep, the players will find "Lord Marshal Raynor" that was featured during the "Dark Portal Opening Event" in the Burning Crusade's opening of the game. He is named after Jim Raynor of the Starcraft Series, even keeping the same rank of Marshal.
22. The Park District of Stormwind City, simply known as "The Park", has been remapped truly into a section the players remembered it was before, a Night Elf District. However, later on it was imbued with High Elves as well and hence it can be considered an "Elven District". The Park is mostly controlled by both High Elven and Night Elven individuals, as well as Rangers. High Elves manage most of the in door shops, while the Night Elves manage most of the outdoor shops. The High Elves were added due to the fact that by lore standards they had a large population within the city's walls, but this was never seen in any expansion so far. The Moon Well had also received a glowing effect to further portray the Elven Control of the area.
23. Anna'thel Everbloom and Pyra'tha Everbloom are another reference to Witny and Pyraeus. Pyraeus was one the great Lead Concept Designers who aided in constructing the city, while Witny, a large elven fan, made many suggestions what to do with the area. Their discussion within the Park's Inn is a reference to that discussion.
24. Most of Stormwind's new shops were empty and were never used. In Cataclysm, they were deleted from the game. In the server, they actually began serving purpose. Most people who were dumped out on the streets of Orgrimmar to open shop stands and lose their homes didn't lose theirs as they have in Cataclysm. Here, they actually stay within their homes that have been upgraded and refurbished.
1. Pyraeus Dawning and Witny Dawning are the new vendors of the Loyal Apothecary that are located at the East Zeppelin Tower that is located East of Orgrimmar City.
